The boy knew he couldn't back down, couldn't let them take his family's money, not with everything they'd done to earn it. He decided to stand up to them.

Every time he went to the grocery they were waiting for him, trying to take his money or, if he'd already paid, trying to take the food away from him.

He became a good fighter but he became a great runner, often sprinting away from the other boys so that they wouldn't be able to catch him.

In time, they got tired of chasing him, fighting him, recognizing that he would never give up against them. Eventually, they gave up instead, letting him make the grocery run in peace.

Later, he joins the school football and boxing teams thanks to his bullies' unintentional training.
