The boy's parents lie. They give the grandma an empty bag to show that she is still strong. Her knuckles are white on the handle but the customs officer believes them.

He stamps their passports, and waves them through the gate. 

They jockey around the customs building, trying to find out where to go next. They go back and forth, unsure of the directions they've been given, unable to make sense of the signs on the walls.

Finally, they find someone who can speak their language. He tells them which office to go to for food and accommodation.

They get given stamps for a meal at the cafeteria, and a voucher for a hotel to stay in.
